Methods of Teaching and Learning
Interactive teaching methods are designed to aid comprehensive learning. Teaching methods include Class Room Lectures, Interactive Sessions & Discussions, Case Studies, Power Point Presentations, Documentaries, Seminars & Workshops, Mooting (debating moot courts points of law before a judge), Guest Lectures, Practical Training, Project Work, Field Visits etc.

Ten Point Grading System
The University of Mumbai vide its circular bearing no. UG/79 of 2016-17 dated 14th October, 2016 laid down that, the 10 point Grading System prepared by the Special Committee constituted for the purpose at its meeting held on 1 September, 2016, has been accepted by the Academic Council at its meeting held on 30th September, 2016 and that in accordance therewith, the following scheme for the uniform 10 point grading system from the Academic Year 2016-17 be implemented.
Grading System shall be adopted for the University of Mumbai which is a follows :-

Credit Based Evaluation System
Scheme of Examination for Undergraduate 3 Years LL.B. Programme shall be as mentioned below :
The performance of the learners shall be evaluated into two components. The learner’s performance shall be assessed by Internal Assessment with 25% marks in the first component by conducting the Semester End Examination with 75% marks in the second component. The allocation of marks for the Internal Assessment and Semester End Examinations are as shown below:-
Internal Assessment – 25% (25 Marks)

Semester End Examination – 75% (75 Marks)
- Duration: 2.5 hours
- Theory Question Paper Pattern:-
- There shall be four questions as mentioned herein below.
- All questions shall be compulsory with internal choice within the questions.
- Question may be subdivided into sub-questions a,b,c... and the allocation of marks depends on the weightage of the topic.

Students can appear for the Examination in English / Marathi / Hindi. However, papers in "Legal Language and Legal Writing" and "General English" are to be written only in English.
For the Semesters I to IV of the 3 Years LL.B. programme, the assessment of ‘Part A’ i.e. Internal Assessment and ‘Part B’ i.e. Semester End Examination shall be processed by the Colleges/Institutions of their learners on behalf of the University and declare their results as per the procedure laid down by the University. The College/Institutions shall accordingly issue the grade cards to them after conversion of marks into grade as per the procedure mentioned in this manual.
Examination Pattern: Semester System
The Course leading to either degree in law, unitary or on integrated double degree, shall be conducted in semester system in not less than 15 weeks for unitary degree course or not less than 18 weeks in double degree integrated course with not less than 30 class-hours per week including tutorials, moot room exercise and seminars provided there shall be at least 24 lecture hours per week.
The LL.B. Degree will not be conferred upon a candidate unless the candidate has passed in, or cleared, all the papers prescribed for each Semester Examination in accordance with the provisions relating to each Semester Examination, The performance of the students will be evaluated by the Examination ta be conducted at the end of the every Semester and also by his / her performance a the Practical Training Papers as per the guidelines issued from time to time by the Bar Council of India and University of Mumbai.
Promotion Rules & Practical Training
University of Mumbai Circular No. AAMS_UGS/ICC/2022-23/160 (07 Nov 2022)
- Amended R 4465: For promotion of LL.B. students to higher class from semester II to III of 3 Years programme, the students have to clear atleast 7 courses out of 10 courses of the year from which promotion is applied for including the courses on applied components.
- Amended R 4469: For promotion of LL.B. students to higher class from semester IV to V of 3 Years Programme, the students have to clear atleast 7 courses out of 10 courses of the year from which promotion is applied for including the courses on applied components.
University of Mumbai Circular No. AAMS_UGS/ICC/2022-23/98 (15 Sep 2022)
Amended R 4439: The mandatory requirement of passing the practical training and DPC papers in order to be eligible to appear in semesters 2,4 and 6 of LL.B. 3 years LL.B. Course and semesters 6,8 and 10 LL.B. 5 years shall be relaxed/deleted. The students will be eligible to appear in University semester end examinations of LL.B. 3 years semesters 2,4 and 6 and of LL.B. 5 years semesters 6,8 and 10 even if they have failed or remained absent in the practical training and /or DPC courses. owever the programme completion will require passing in all courses.
